Pouch:Hip-Carry

He's 7months now. Super happy & excited when out. His favourite is for me to take walking routes along the side of the road so he can all the different types of vehicles: buses, taxis, trucks.

A little too large to sit with his legs inside the pouch now. So I slip the pouch under his knees and easy-peasy, he's in the hip-carry position! Notice how I've roughly aligned the seam of the baby pouch down the center of his back(this photo below).

Teether

Finally had time to get myself a new handbag. Not 100% to my satisfaction, but....it'll have to do for the timebeing - my trusty handbag had been chewed up by the baby!

JR loves zeroing on my handbag handles!!! Over time, the poor handles have all peeled & frayed. So embarassing to carry around. *sigh* But I still did so until I finally had time to get an alternative.

High Chair

Out for dinner. Was so happy that he sat on the high chair for awhile so I could eat dinner without holding him. Phew!

The fish-head curry was sooooo yummy! And I can almost swear that it's good for milk supply! *haha* My theory though, is that, babies LOVE varied tastes. Whatever we eat would flavour our breastmilk too. And so far, I've noticed that our babies just love it when I've had a strongly flavoured meal, like curry for instance. And well, demand=supply. So...you get the picture!

Step Up

Baby LOVES the water. Oh - I've mentioned that before? *hehe*

On days that we're not swimming, we still let him splash some. Oh well, we do get *splashed on* too, incovenient though that may be.

Expresso

I'd used the Ameda Pump with my older kids --- many years ago. LOL.

This time around, since I didn't anticipate pumping frequently, I didn't turn to this first. I wanted a really small handy pump. I decided to try out several pumps.

First I used the Avent Isis manual. It worked, but somehow, if I didn't angle the funnels properly, the suction would not be good. *sigh*. And the Avent UNO electric pump? Too noisy - so scary. I then got the Medela Swing, a really handy pump, since I have had good experiences with the Medela Mini-Electric and the Medela PIS. What I found lacking with the Medela Swing though, was that it didn't have any option to vary the speed. And when I increased the suction power, the pump motor just got noisier & noisier, like it was very *strained* to work at that higher level.

Finally, I resorted to the Ameda once again. I use it with batteries only, not the electric outlet plug. Nevertheless, even with the lower power strength of batteries, it worked as I remember it - wonderfully!

For the price, the Ameda is really superb for it's efficiency!

Sling: Hip Carry

The Hip Carry is generally for older babies of at least 5mths or older, when they have better upper body/neck control. We do have pictorial instructions that you can study:
. Step-by-Step Hip-Carry Pictorial Instructions
PICT0013a-lr
Do note that the bottom edge of the sling is to be brought all the way over the baby down to behind their knees. The baby would *sit down* over this bottom edge. The upper edge of the sling is wrapped up the baby's upper back. For older babies(as in above pix of the 7month-old baby), this sling edge can be up to the armpits.

And for the shoulder portion - do make sure it is well-spread over the shoulder so that weight is distributed well. Do not have it edged into the crook of your neck for instance. Or have the ring around the neck either. That would be super-painful and tiring!

For Younger babies(as in pix below), the upper edge of the sling should be wrapped all the way over their shoulders.

Babies, or even the Big Ones, will always be happy to be close to you, and at the level where they can talk & communicate more easily with you.

Cry Room

I never ever wanted to be in the Infantcare room in church. But at the new church that we are attending, it's just soooooooo quiet in the main santuary. In the end, I find it less stressful to be in the infant room. Even if he doesn't cry, he grumbles, fusses. Ah....I think as parents we feel more nervous than those around us. But since those around us all have such serious and stern faces, I really don't feel comfortable, and instead feel too suspicious as to whether they are secretly frowning at me & the noisy baby. *sigh*.

Here's JR watching the English DVDs.

Hunger Pangs

6-month/7-month milestone: Not sure if it's because the baby is demanding more milk now.....but I'm just about always hungry these days! Just about 30mins after a nice full meal, and I'd be all hungry again. And if I dont' fill my tum, I start getting the low-blood sugar feeling. Quite inconvenient, I must say. And those of you in the same situation as me? I'm sure you can sooooooooo identify.

One of my quick "snacks" is sweet potato. And....Yup, this was what I was sharing with babe in this earlier post. *haha*

It's really delicious!

Early Mornings

I tend to sneak out from the house real early in the mornings while the baby is still asleep to get to the office. This morning, when I was about to leave the house, I realised I hadn't fed the bb, or at least 1 side felt quite engorged. With no time on my hands, I just quickly grabbed some bottles n the pump and dashed out of the house, sterlising them only on reaching the office.

Threw everything together n dumped into the microwave while organising stuff in the office:

I pumped while in the office. Nay, baby doesn't take the bottle, but at least the expressed milk can be kept to be put with his morning cereal.
